If You Plant Petunias, You’ll Get Petunias
Don’t be misled – you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
Galatians 6:7-8 New Living Translation
I grew up attending a small Baptist Church. The Pastor’s wife taught the College/Career Sunday School class, and she would often tell us, “If you plant petunias, you’ll get petunias." She was and still is spot on. We don’t plant something expecting to get something else. That is what our verse is talking about.
If we call ourselves Christ-followers, then our conduct should reflect Christ. Sure, we aren’t going to be perfect all the time. We will mess up. But let’s not fool ourselves, or think we are fooling God if we are consistently living a lifestyle outside of what God wants, and expect the same blessings from God for those living their lives for him. It simply won’t happen.
You will always harvest what you plant.
