No Record?

“Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.”

Psalm 130:3-4 New Living Translation

The psalmist here is hypothetically thinking of what could happen if God kept a record of or marked all our sins down. It would put us in a very precarious situation, I imagine. We could never stand or survive a minute in God’s presence because of our conscious, deliberate sin. But, thanks to God, this will not happen to those who have been forgiven through Jesus. We can rejoice in what this psalmist says, “O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for help.” Psalm 86:5 New Living Translation. Thank you Jesus.
