The Bridge To Life
One of the oldest questions humans have is, Is there a God? What is he like? How do I get to heaven? All good questions to ask.
Fortunately, the answer to these questions is pretty simple. The “Gospel” is sometimes called “the Good News,” and it is definitely good news. To hear about this “good news,” read the paragraph with each picture.
It Started Here.
We have to start at the beginning. In Genesis 1:26, when God wanted to create the first humans, He said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. God blessed them and spent days walking and talking with the people he created”. Life was good.

What Happened?
We know life today isn’t like that anymore. What happened to mess everything up? We (humans) chose to do the opposite of what God asked us to do, and sin came into the world, separating us from God. Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned: we all fall short of God’s glorious standard,” and in Isaiah 59:2, we are told, “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.” This is bad because there isn’t a way for us to get across that gap, that big chasm. We have tried to find our way to God by being good people, religion, money, philosophy, and all sorts of other ways. We find out that none of that works, “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” Proverbs 14:12

Then Came Jesus.
There is only one way to find peace with God. It’s through Jesus Christ. The Bible says that we are stranded without any way of back to God. We need a way to pay for our sins, to be clean again. Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ (that is Jesus) to die for us while we were still sinners.” That’s the Good News! Jesus already paid the penalty for our sins. He died on the cross for you and me so that our relationship with God can be restored. John 3:16 says, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Believe It.
What should our reaction be to this awesome news? This is the most important part. John 5:24 tells us, “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me (Jesus) have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life”. Jesus even says, “I have come into the world that they (you and me and everybody) may have life, and have it to the full.” The peace that you and I seek comes when we trust Jesus. Romans 5:1 says, “we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us.”

Receive It.
So how can you have peace with God and eternal life like these verses say? Through an honest prayer to God like the one you see here. There isn’t anything magical about these words because it’s not the words that save you, rather, it is whether in your heart you really mean it. Listen to this verse, “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7”.
The best thing? It doesn’t matter how much or how badly you messed up. Jesus is powerful enough to save you. If you are ready to make this decision, take this moment to pray this prayer and ask him to save you, He is the bridge to life.
